2010 One Act Play Competition.
To celebrate 75 years of Sussex Playwrights' Club in 2010, this year's competition is for a one act stage play with the theme of 'Anniversaries'
First Prize: £150 plus a reading of the play at a Club Meeting.
Second Prize: £100 plus a reading of the play at a Club Meeting.
Third Prize: £ 75. plus a reading of the play at a Club Meeting.
# The play should be in one act and last between 30 - 50 minutes
# The play should be on the theme of Anniversaries
# Entry fee is £5 (with one free entry for Sussex Playwrights' Club members)
# CLOSING DATE: 31ST July 2010
# Judge's announcement will be mid-December 2010
Rules
The competition is open to any author, regardless of nationality or country of residence and must be an original play, written in English and not previously broadcast, produced before a paying audience or read at a club meeting..
Plays, which must be clearly typed and securely bound, should be sent to Mr Dennis Evans,
All plays must be entered under a pseudonym and all entries should include a sealed envelope with the play's title and the pseudonym on the cover. This envelope should contain a card with the author's real name and address, plus sufficient postage for return of the manuscript.
Sussex Playwrights' Club members are entitled to one free entry but all other entries must be accompanied by the entry fee of £5. Receipt of entries will not be acknowledged. It is hoped that the results will be announced by Mid-December 2010.
The decision of the judges is final and we cannot enter into any correspondence concerning the results. The judges reserve the right not to award a prize if the number or standard of the entries is deemed to be insufficient.

The Sussex Playwrights' Club, in association with The New Venture Theatre, Brighton welcome entries for a national 10 MINUTE PLAY competition.
Prize: Up to eight scripts will be chosen for a production in the theatre's studio from July 10th - 17th 2010
# The play should last no longer than 10 minutes
# The play should have no more than 3 characters.
# CLOSING DATE: 23 April 2010
# Judge's announcement will be published on the Websites for New Venture Theatre and Sussex Playwrights Club early June 2010 and winners will be notified by post / email.
Rules
The competition is open to any author, regardless of nationality or country of residence and must be the writers' own work and not adaptations or translations; written in English and not published or under contract to a third party. By entering a script the writer is confirming that this is so.
Copyright remains with the writer but entering a script is also an acceptance that should it be among those selected, the New Venture Theatre may perform the piece without payment, during July 2010 as stated above.
Plays, which must be clearly typed on one side of A4 only, numbered and securely bound, should be sent to 10 Minute Play Competition, The New Venture Theatre, Bedford Place, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 2TP to arrive no later than the 23rd April 2010.
All plays must be entered under a pseudonym and all entries should include a sealed envelope with the play's title and the pseudonym on the cover. This envelope should contain a card with the author's real name and address. There is no entry fee, but individuals are limited to 3 submissions. Please note it will not be possible to return manuscripts.

The judging panel comprises three members from New Venture Theatre and three from the Sussex Playwrights' Club and will include both writers and Directors.
